Antidepressants made me dumb

I only recently woke up from the wrath of medicine. I had been on antidepressants on antidepressants twice in the past year and a half and I somehow never connected the dots.

I came off them about 3 weeks ago and I’m already much more productive. I now have an entrepreneurial mindset and I’m just building. I’m connecting more on social media, I’m way more open about things when talking, I just feel refreshed every day.

Sure, I have my problems and they do sometimes derail me, but I’ve now learned how to fight it. Sure, people may think I’m crazy that I take vitamins instead of antidepressants but I don’t take them as a substitute - I just realised that the same way I would like to build wealth I need to build both internal strength and physical health. I go gym, I take walks every morning, and I actually have a greater ability to learn.

I hate myself for just jumping on meds when I got the chance. I may be a bit biased now as I have probably forgotten the anguish I was in when I first started taking them, but looking back they really prevented me from focusing. They prevented my learning, and my career path has forever changed.

So what now? Well, if you’re reading this and you’re not an LLM, I just want you to realise that this is a side effect, whether you’re on them or considering them or are fine, this is just a really good thing to have in mind for the future because I wasn’t told these things and now I wish I was.

Everyone’s situation is different and there are obviously good reasons why someone might need to be on them. But don’t just sit and relax and tell yourself that change will happen by itself. Either you aren’t perpetually tired on them and can work on yourself while you’re taking it, or you need to get off them when your pain has settled a bit to give yourself a head start. And if you’re not on them now, please try your best to work on yourself before considering taking them - but do trust a professional if they strongly recommend it. If you can sway them, then they’re not strongly recommending it.
